PUBLIC NOTICE TO DRINKING WATER CUSTOMERS
City of Dunn Notice to Drinking Water Customers Beginning Tuesday, March 1, 2023 the City of Dunn will temporarily change its drinking water disinfection process from the use of Chloramines to Free Chlorine. The City of Dunn will resume the Chloramination process on Friday April 1, 2023.
The State of North Carolina Division of Environmental Quality requires this change on an annual basis. During this time, the City will be flushing water lines for maintenance of the water transmission system. You may notice temporary pressure fluctuations, discoloration of the water, or the taste and smell of Chlorine in your water. The City's water supply will remain safe for consumption during this period of time.
Some users of water may be affected by the temporary change in the treatment process. Water customers should be aware that residual traces of ammonia and chlorine must be removed from the water prior to its use in fish aquariums and ponds, kidney dialysis and some commercial manufacturing of food and beverage.
Water customers affected by this change include those who pay water bills to the City of Dunn, portions of eastern Harnett County, as well as those who pay water bills to Eastover Sanitary District, Sampson County, Town of Benson, Town of Falcon, and the Town of Godwin.
If you have any questions about this change in water treatment or your water status, please feel free to contact Ian Stroud at the City of Dunn’s Water Treatment Plant (910) 897-5129.
